TIME FOR CHRISTMAS JOY
The Yuba Sutter Master Chorale's Fall Concert "The Joy of Christmas" is scheduled for Saturday, December 10, 2011, 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1390 Franklin Road, Yuba City, CA and Sunday, December 11, 2011, 4:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Sampson and Rideout Way, Marysville, CA. Musical selections include Vivaldi Gloria RV588 with chamber Orchestra, excerpts from Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols with Harp and Organ, and featuring dancers from Jacque's Dance Expressions. Ticket prices are $10 general admission and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased at Yuba City Florist, Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council and at the door. Be sure to mark your calendar for this wonderful holiday concert.

The Yuba Sutter Master Chorale's Spring Concert "Life . . . Love . . . Eternity - Music for the Soul" was held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1390 Franklin Road, Yuba City, CA and Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Sampson and Rideout Way, Marysville, CA. The performance included Pergolesi "Stabat Mater" and Rutter "Requiem" with chamber orchestra and additional choral music of Page, Stroope and Handel. Click here to read the Appeal-Democrat article.
WHAT IS THE YUBA SUTTER MASTER CHORALE?
The Yuba Sutter Master Chorale is a 40 voiced ensemble comprised of singers from throughout the Yuba, Sutter, Colusa and Sacramento areas. The Chorale is now in its sixth year bringing the finest in choral literature to the Yuba Sutter Community. The Chorale reflects a stunning cross section of singers including nurses, teachers, lawyers, students, governmental employees, and many other professional groups. The common thread so essential and inherent within this ensemble is the love of choral singing and the desire to express through the human voice the great choral literature from throughout the ages.
The Chorale presents three major concerts a year, a fall "POPS" concert, Christmas concert and Spring concert. Music performed includes music from the Renaissance Period through modern times. An important goal of the Master Chorale is to involve various Arts groups from throughout the community which includes dance, poets, instrumentalists, and members of the Borgamaria Lyric Opera Company. Based in Marysville, under the auspices of the Yuba Sutter Regional Arts Council, the opera company, now in its seventh season, is the Yuba Sutter area's own regional opera company.
Any person interested in singing with the Yuba Sutter Master Chorale is invited to attend rehearsals which are each Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, corner of Forbes and Cooper Streets in Yuba City. Under the direction of Joaquina Calvo Johnson, it is the cultural mission of the Chorale to continue the quest for fine Performing Arts in the Yuba Sutter Community.
